CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) –International superstar Ricky Martin was in Coral Gables Friday to promote his newest project, a book for children titled "Santiago the Dreamer in Land Among the Stars".
Martin signed autographs at Books & Books for dozens of fans, some of whom had waited in line since before dawn.
"I love him! I need to see him," Carla Farias told CBS 4's Lauren Pastrana. Farias said she lined up at 4 a.m. "I want for my daughter to have the book signed.
Alessandra Saravia is visiting from Brazil.
She got in line at 8 a.m. to see Martin.
"I think he's a great person. He's always kind with everyone. He's always very generous with the people," Saravia said. "He's going to be very famous with the kids now."
A native of Puerto Rico, Martin's book was also released in Spanish.
"Santiago el Soñador" tells the story of a boy who dreams of performing on stage, but deals with doubt after being overlooked for the lead in the school play.
Thanks to support from his father, Santiago learns to keep dreaming big.
Martin's fans say the story provides a glimpse into the life of their favorite celebrity.
"It's not just about the children's book, it's about what it really means. The fact that he's taken his experience and sharing it," Shenny Cordero said.
Martin is the father of twin boys.
Before the book signing, he told a group of assembled reporters and photographers this "was one of his biggest projects to date."
He is also working on music for an upcoming album. The book is his second publication. His memoir was a bestseller.
