Report: Nolasco May Be Next Marlin To Go

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins may not be done with the dumping of salary ahead this week. According to the New York Post's Joel Sherman, right-handed pitcher Ricky Nolasco is the "next to go."

Nolasco was 12-13 in 2012 with a 4.48 ERA in 31 starts. He pitched 191 innings and struck out 125 batters while giving up 47 walks and had a WHIP of 1.366.

The New York Post quoted two baseball executives as the source for the potential moving of Nolasco.

Nolasco is due $11.5 million next season after making $9 million in 2013. If Nolasco is moved, the Marlins will have barely any money committed to the payroll for 2013 and will essentially be starting over from scratch.

Tuesday, the Marlins traded Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Emilio Bonifacio, and John Buck to the Toronto Blue Jays for several players. The Marlins trade had every appearance of a salary dump ahead of the 2013 season.
