Report: NBA Cancels Games Through Dec. 15
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The NBA has informed its teams that all games through December 15th have been cancelled, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The move is no surprise after the National Basketball Players Association broke off negotiations with the league for a new collective bargaining agreement.
Individual players will begin filing antitrust lawsuits against the league as early as this week seeking to improve their negotiating position with the NBA.
The last time an NBA lockout lasted this long into a season was 1998-1999. In that season, the league didn't reach a deal until January 7, 1999 and had a 50-game season.
But, the two sides are much further apart this time around and the potential to lose an entire NBA season is very real as the two sides hit a new court soon.
