Police: Woman In Critical Condition After Being Shot By Girlfriend In Lauderhill

LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) -- A woman is in critical condition after she was shot at a Lauderhill Apartment complex.

Police say an officer on patrol heard gunshots coming from the Waterford Park Apartments where officers located a woman in the driver's seat of a vehicle. She'd been shot multiple times.

Police say further investigation led them to one of the units in the complex and the victim's girlfriend.

Police say there was a brief standoff with officers, but she was later taken into custody without incident.

Neighbors described hearing 7-8 gunshot blasts. Many looked out the window to see the victim being loaded onto a stretcher. Schazzard Blackburn said she was blocked by crime tape when she coming home from her job early Wednesday morning but her mother heard the shots.

"I just seen the person laying on the floor and then I seen a black Nissan Altima parked really weird almost as if the person like jumped out the car while it was moving," she said.

A CBS4 camera captured as two separate vehicles including a black car were towed away that multiple neighbors described as being parked haphazardly.

One neighbor said she heard arguing in the moments before the shots.

The investigation is ongoing, police have not identified anyone involved.
