MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami-Dade Police have released the identity of a teen left hospitalized after he was hit by a car while riding a bike.

Investigators believe 14-year-old Dykwon Dye was intentionally targeted by a blue Kia Sportage occupied by two individuals when they ran him down late Friday afternoon in the area of N.W. 23rd Avenue and N.W. 44th Street.

"This was not a hit-and-run situation," said Det. Daniel Ferrin, spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Police Department. "It was actually an accident that occurred beforehand. What exactly had happened, they're still trying to determine that right now."

The suspects stole Dykwon's bicycle and left him injured in the street.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported him to Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.

Detectives think there is likely damage to the newer model Kia Sportage on the right-front side of the car.

If you have any information that can help investigators, contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
