Pledge To 'Flip It Forward' & Help Name Baby Dolphin At Seaquarium

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – One of South Florida's most popular tourist attractions is celebrating Labor Day with some baby news.

One of the Top Deck Dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium gave birth to a female calf on August 2nd.

It's quite the family affair in the Top Deck pool.

Rioux's mother is Panama and Panama currently has another baby dolphin, a 5-month old female calf, named Calypso.

That means Panama has her 2 daughters and her one granddaughter in the Top Deck pool. The 5-month old calf, Calypso, is the aunt of the unnamed baby calf.

The newborn Dolphin won't remain unnamed for long and here's where you come in.

The marine park is launching a name the baby dolphin contest to help celebrate the birth and help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 'Flipper' TV series, which was filmed at the Miami Seaquarium.

The public is invited to help name the baby dolphin by pledging to "Flip it Forward" with a random act of kindness.

From now through September 15, each person who goes to and commits to 'Flip It Forward' will automatically be entered in the 'Name the Baby' contest.  One lucky winner will be randomly selected and will be able to choose from four possible names:  Bali, Eclipse, Corona and Storm.

The winner will also receive a VIP experience for 4 people at the park, including admission, animal encounters, lunch and souvenirs.

The name will be announced on September 19th the official anniversary of when the 'Flipper' TV series first aired.
