Ohio Governor Latest To Bash LeBron
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Basketball fans expected Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert to react with snide comments after former Cavs star LeBron James and the Heat lost to the Dallas Mavericks.
But one would hope for a little bit more class from a sitting governor; sadly, you would be wrong.
Ohio Governor John Kasich issued a resolution praising the Dallas Mavericks for their victory Sunday night and takes direct aim at LeBron.
The resolution lauded Dirk Nowitzki for re-signing with the Mavs and not become a free agent in 2010 and "thus remaining loyal to the team, city, and fans for whom he played his entire career."
The resolution said, "the proud city of Cleveland and the entire state of Ohio share in the excitement of Dallas Mavericks fans everywhere."
Gilbert took to Twitter following the Heat's Game 6 loss to take a shot at the Heat and LeBron James.
"Old Lesson for all: There are NO SHORTCUTS. None," Gilbert tweeted.
The message was not without some irony considering he bought the Cavs with LeBron hoping to win a title through no roster building of his own, and then got mad when LeBron chose to leave for a better team. But that's been Gilbert's modus operandi all season, much like a petulant child.
Sadly, for the state of Ohio, seeing Dallas celebrate a championship is the closest they've been to a pro sports title, especially the city of Cleveland. The Cleveland Browns haven't won a championship since 1964; the Cavaliers have never won an NBA title, and the Cleveland Indians last won a title in 1948.
