Not Everyone Had Christmas Day Off

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - For a lot of people Christmas is all about spending time with family members, opening presents and feasting on holiday treats.

But firefighters and police officers are always on the job and they were not the only ones.

"I don't mind working on Christmas day," said Clinton Halferty. "Our company gives us a little Christmas bonus."

Halferty is a driver for Way2Go Eco Shuttle in Ft. Lauderdale, an electric car cab service. So just how busy was he on Christmas day?

"Probably close to 100 people so far," said Halferty on Tuesday afternoon. "There were a lot of people, sometimes people call from their hotels or their houses."

Also hard at work on Christmas with a narrow victory over the OKC Thunder, the Miami Heat. But, Dwyane Wade says he doesn't mind the holiday hustle.

"You never want to take anything for granted. I have been playing on Christmas a lot, and I'm fine with that."

"If it's anything that I'd do on a Christmas day, it would be right here," agreed Miami Heat DJ Irie.

But not everyone was as chipper about working the holiday, at least not initially

"I got suckered," said Scott Swinson with a half smile. "Suckered definitely!"

Swinson is the manager at Manor Lanes Bowling and Sports Den Pub. He said this was his first Christmas on the job, so he dressed for the occasion and made the best of it.

"I'd rather be in Ohio with my family 100%, but it's not bad," he said.
