New Day, New Terminal For US Airways At MIA

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - It's a new day and new terminal for US Airways at Miami International Airport.

As part of its merger with American Airlines, workers with US Air have moved their operations from the airport's South Terminal, Concourse J to join American Air's operations in the North Terminal.

All US Airways ticketing and check-in, baggage services and customer service operations are now working out of Concourse D. US Airways ticketing and check-in counters are located on Level 2 next to American's ticketing and check-in location.

US Airways flights will operate out of gates in nearby Concourse E, with easy access to connecting flights on American Airlines in both the D and E Concourses.

"If you're traveling on US Airways or American you will check in, get baggage services, everything done right here at Concourse D. US Airways gates at Concourse E. It will be easier for customers to connect," said airline spokeswoman Marilyn DeVoe.

With the move, US Airways Club members will now have more convenient access to two American Airlines Admirals Club lounges at Miami International Airport in Concourse D.

In the travel rush the change went almost unnoticed, except for those who didn't get the relocation memo. Garlind Archer and his wife were dropped off at the old concourse and had to walk.

"They dumped us way around the terminal so we walked all the way," said Archer who liked the idea of the merger. "I'm in favor of it but I think they have to get their act together. There is still some confusion ticket wise between what's US Air and what's American."

"It was a little confusing and they had to send me here to US Airways so I think they're working out the kinks," said Gertrude Scahill.

American and US Airways provide approximately 350 daily departures to 121 destinations in more than 40 countries/territories from their combined hub at Miami International Airport.

American Airlines and US Airways, together with American Eagle and US Airways Express, operate an average of nearly 6,700 flights per day to 339 destinations in 54 countries.
