Marlins Fall To Astros In Rain Shortened Game
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — Ronny Cedeno tripled hours after signing with the Houston Astros, who beat the Miami Marlins 4-1 Sunday in a game shortened to 4 1-2 innings because of rain.
Released by St. Louis on March 19, Cedeno agreed to a one-year deal with Houston and immediately was inserted into the lineup at shortstop. He went 1 for 2, grounding into an inning-ending forceout in the second and tripling to right in the fourth against Jacob Turner.
Brett Wallace hit his third homer, a two-run drive in the third.
Houston minor leaguer David Martinez allowed one run and eight hits in four innings. Turner gave up four runs, five hits and four walks in 4 2-3 innings.
Miami's Greg Dobbs was 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles.
