Marino Throwing Out First Pitch For Marlins On Opening Day

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins have plenty of young arms to throw at opposing teams, but will add one more famous arm to the roster to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on opening day.

According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino will throw out the first pitch on Opening Day against the Colorado Rockies.

Marino is no stranger to the sport of baseball as he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the fourth round of the 1979 MLB Draft. But, Marino opted to go for football and that worked out pretty well for Miami and Marino both.

The Marlins announced Tuesday that in addition to Marino throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, KC from KC and the Sunshine Band will sing the national anthem. The team will also honor Henderson Alvarez's no-hitter from last season and fireworks will follow the game.
