Man Charged In Deadly West Park Shooting

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - WEST PARK (CBS4) – One of two men accused of taking part in a robbery that turned deadly in a West Park warehouse last Friday has been taken into custody.

Leroi Morris, 29, has been charged with murder while engaged in a felony.

According to the sheriff's office, Morris and James Rutledge burst into the warehouse in 5800 block of SW 25th St at about 10 p.m. and demanded money from Oneil Leroy Mignott, 39, and his 19-year old cousin Dwayne Myrie. Investigators said they believe Mignott was intentionally targeted in the robbery; he ran a stereo installation business called Two Guys and a Stereo out of the warehouse unit. Also inside the warehouse was Mignott's four year old son.

During the robbery attempt, investigators said one of the Rutledge struck Myrie in the head with a gun. Mignott got a hold of a gun and shot and killed Rutledge, but was wounded in an exchange of bullets. He later died of his wounds at Memorial Regional Hospital, according to BSO Spokesperson Veda Coleman-Wright.
