Kendall House Fire Claims Pets Lives
KENDALL (CBS4) -- Several cats have been killed in a house fire at 12891 Southwest 53rd Street in Kendall, but rescue workers were able to save the family dogs.
Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Spokesman Capt. Eric Baum said a mid-afternoon call to a blaze at a single story home was brought under control Monday, but the cats inside did not survive the ordeal.
One family dog was luckier, and was given oxygen by Firefighter Jorge Fernandez before being taken to a nearby veterinarian for treatment. Another dog, Marlo, was found hiding and was returned to its family, Baum said.
The blaze started and was contained in the back of the residence.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
