SCOUTING: From the very first time we saw this quality football talent, there was simply no question how successful he would be. It's hard to believe that it was nearly four years since he walked into this program with the promise that he would be very special. Having covered him and watching his progress, Atkins came into this program at a time when head coach Jeff Bertani and his Chargers were rebuilding. In winning the district this season, the brother of former NMB standout Markeith Russell, this is a talented athlete who showcased his skills as a runner - and on defense as a linebacker. Any college that ends up with this tremendous football player will be fortunate. There is no getting around the fact that his best years are certainly ahead of him.
