HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) - A Hollywood man allegedly attacked his girlfriend with a samurai sword on Sunday after he ordered her to her room and she refused.
Gil Camacho, 49, has been charged with attempted murder, false imprisonment and hindering communication with a law enforcement officer for the attack on Maria Berrios.
According to an arrest report, the incident happened in the couple's home after an irate Camacho ordered Berrios, his girlfriend of two years, to go to her bedroom. She told investigators that she tried to escape during the attack, but Camacho threw her onto the bedroom floor each time.
Camacho beat her as she tried to escape and removed the battery from her cell phone so that she could not get in contact with authorities, said the arrest affidavit.
Camacho allegedly took a samurai sword from a nearby stand, removed its sheath and began striking his girlfriend. Berrios told police she put her arms up over her face and neck to protect herself, and that she felt the sword striking her bones several times.
Police said Camacho's son wrapped her wounds with T-shirts and drove her to Memorial Regional Hospital to be treated.
Camacho was ordered to remain in jail without bond
