The 30th annual Miami Book Fair International brings wonderful reading, exciting events and prolific figures to Downtown Miami. The fair takes place at various venues around the city with activities suitable for readers of all ages with fun events ranging from exhibits and book sales to arts and crafts. Celebrations in honor of three decades began with exciting readings around Miami-Dade County since September at Miami Dade College campuses and Books & Books in Coral Gables. Considered to be the finest literary festival in the U.S., the Miami fair features many impressive events such as these highlights below.

Bestselling author Dan Brown will spend the evening discussing literature, writing and more. Brown is the author of such incredibly successful novels as "Angels & Demons" and "The Da Vinci Code" – the number one selling adult hardcover novel of all time. "The Da Vinci Code" was on The New York Times' bestseller list for an incredible 144 weeks and it enjoyed incredible success as a feature film starring award-winning actor Tom Hanks. Dan Brown's works are known for his examinations of the interactions between science and religion.

The Street Fair is maybe the most well-known segment of the fair featuring streets lined with stands for book perusing and shopping. Visitors are able to access material from over 250 exhibitors (booksellers and publishers) including special edition items such as original manuscripts. The atmosphere buzzes with excitement and it's a wonderful place to make new friends in the artistic and intellectual community. It's best to get to the fair earlier to avoid traffic or parking issues.

Schoolchildren will be coming to the Street Fair from all over Miami-Dade County to enjoy Children's Alley on Friday. Keeping kids excited about reading, the children's section of the fair dazzles with arts and crafts projects, a school of comics, readings, storytelling sessions and more. Well-known graphic novelists and illustrators will be at the fair to represent the popular comic book genre for children and teens (Comic Galaxy). Surprises abound and special fictional characters come to life for guest appearances.

Festival of Authors

The Festival of Authors is exactly that – a fair within the fair with a staggering show of over 350 authors. The authors will be at the fair to present readings and to hold in-depth discussions of their works with readers, fans and other visitors to the fair. The Festival of Authors has proudly included Pulitzer Prize winners and Nobel Peace Prize winners along with authors who have made pop culture history such as Anne Rice and Hunter S. Thompson. For Spanish language readers, the Ibero-American Authors Program features books and authors from Spanish-speaking countries as well as readings and other interactions.
