Gas Prices Jump At The Pump

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) - After months of dropping, gas prices have shot up in the last few weeks.

In Florida, the average price for a gallon of unleaded is $3.77, up from $3.42 a month ago, according to the American Automobile Association. Diesel increased over the last month at $4.15 a gallon.

In Miami-Dade and Ft. Lauderdale, drivers are paying more than the state average. Regular unleaded is running $3.87 a gallon in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. A month ago, drivers were paying $3.48 a gallon in Ft. Lauderdale and $3.48 in Miami.

Pensacola, where unleaded regular is averaging $3.67 a gallon, is the cheapest places in the state to fill up.

West Palm Beach is the most expensive place to top off the tank; regular unleaded is averaging $3.88 a gallon.

The average U.S. price of a gallon of gasoline has surged nearly thirty-five cents in the last two weeks.

Triple-A reports Casper, Wyoming has the nation's lowest average price at $3.03 for regular unleaded; Bridgeport, CT has the highest at $4.03.
