FWC Investigating Two More Panther Deaths

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The remains of two Florida panthers have been recovered and sent to a lab for further analysis.
On Friday, the body of a 16-year old female, who had a radio collar, was found in Big Cypress National Preserve. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the cause of death is unknown at this time. An necropsy will be performed by the FWC's labe in Gainesville.
On Sunday, the remains of a 1-year-old uncollared male panther were recovered on County Road 846/Immokalee Road about a half mile south of the County Road intersection.

The cause of death was vehicle collision.
So far this year, eight Florida panthers have died.
2014 was the deadliest year on record for the Florida panthers. There were a total of 30 panther deaths in the wild, most of which were killed by motor vehicles.
