FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The family of a missing paddle boarder is desperate for information on what happened to him.

52-year-old Constantine Theoharis disappeared after leaving his family's beachfront home in Fort Lauderdale a week ago.

The father of two teenagers is seen on a neighbor's surveillance going into the ocean with his blue paddle board, heading north towards Oakland Park Boulevard on Tuesday morning, March 20th.

"A lady who walks on the beach saw him leave at 7:30," says his uncle, John Katsikas.

Katsikas says his nephew is a skilled boater and diver.

Theoharis and his two brothers grew up on the water

"They went out and got lobster all the time," said Katsikas. "He's a certified diver but didn't take his tanks. We don't know what happened to him."

Fort Lauderdale police have asked for the public's help for information on Theoharis.

He left his driver's license, cell phone and passport at home.

A friend says his fins, mask and a weight belt are gone from his dive bag.

"He's very capable on the paddle board so it seems fishy to me," said his younger brother Richard Theoharis.

Richard doesn't rule out that his older brother nicknamed "Con" may have disappeared intentionally.

Constantine has been locked in a bitter child support battle with his ex-wife.

On the day of his disappearance "Con" missed a court hearing.

It was rescheduled for Tuesday, March 27th.

"He was under pressure," Richard said. "He owed $600,000 and he didn't have it. He was afraid the judge would throw him in jail."

Friends have joined the effort to figure out what happened to Constantine.

Over the weekend they searched the reef offshore while others are flying over the ocean hoping for a clue.

"If he's scared, we hope he will contact us," Richard said. "We can figure this whole thing out,"

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Juan Cabrera at (954) 828-5581.
