MIAMI (CBSMiami) – With the help of the U.S. Coast Guard, five endangered loggerhead sea turtles made their way from Massachusetts to Miami Wednesday.
The turtles were brought to South Florida for rehabilitation after being found stranded in Cape Cod.
Sea turtles usually feed in that area during the summer and become trapped by the geography of the peninsula. This prevents them from swimming south as colder weather arrives in the fall.
All sea turtles in the U.S. are protected under the Endangered Species Act.
