MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Miami Dolphins fans who can't make it out to the game on Sunday can rest easy because the game has been declared a sell out and will air exclusively on CBS4.
There had been much consternation for the past two weeks about whether Sunday's game against the Houston Texans would become the first blackout the Dolphins have had in recent memory.
A local blackout is imposed by the NFL if the game doesn't sell out 72 hours before kickoff. The NFL imposes the blackout in hopes of getting fans into the stands, rather than watching from the comfort of home.
Typically, if a team is close to selling out, the NFL will grant a 24 hour extension in hopes of selling the remaining inventory. Often times, local businesses will also chip in and buy seats to help ensure the game is aired locally.
The Dolphins will take on the Houston Texans at Sun Life Stadium at 4:15 p.m. and can be seen on CBS4.
