Dog shot and killed by man, but he won't be facing charges, Miramar police say
A dog is dead after police say a man shot and killed it on Friday afternoon in Miramar.
According to Miramar police, this incident happened at the 1700 block of Southwest 87th Avenue at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Police say the man, who was described as a friend of the family, was visiting the home and opened fire at the dog to protect himself from being attacked.
Officers were in contact with all parties, who they say know each other, and they announced that the dog owners are not filing any charges.
A woman was also transported to the hospital, but police say it was unrelated to the shooting. Police say she lives at the home, but was not feeling well for an unknown reason.
Chopper 4 was over the scene, where multiple officers were seen focusing their investigation on a grassy area between two homes in a cul-de-sac neighborhood.
No additional information has been released, as officers are still on the scene investigating.
