Dog shot and killed by man, but he won't be facing charges, Miramar police say

A dog is dead after police say a man shot and killed it on Friday afternoon in Miramar. 

According to Miramar police, this incident happened at the 1700 block of Southwest 87th Avenue. Police say the man opened fire at the dog to protect himself from being attacked. 

Officers were in contact with all parties, and they announced that there were no criminal charges. 

A woman was also transported to the hospital, but police say it was unrelated to the shooting. 

Chopper 4 was over the scene, where multiple officers were seen focusing their investigation to a grassy area between two homes at a cul-de-sac neighborhood. 

No additional information has been released, as officers are still on the scene investigating.
