MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Devastating news for the family of man injured in a hit and run in northwest Miami-Dade. All this as investigators try to find the driver responsible.

The family of 26-year old Christopher Monzon is devastated that he will have to be disconnected from life support right before the holidays.

"My kids are constantly asking about him. Even my 3-year-old calls me and asks me, 'where's my Chris,' said Monzon's wife Ashley Mulens.

c  after they had been by his side around the clock for the past few days as he fought for his life at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

It's gut-wrenching news after days of praying for miracle.

"They're just basically considering that he's brain-dead. There's no signal going to his body whatsoever," said Mulens.

According to an incident report, Monzon was riding his motorcycle heading East on the Palmetto west of 47th Avenue around 8 p.m. Friday night.

Relatives said he was struck while riding his motorcycle when two vehicles collided.

"He was just driving to get off the exit and the cars hit him from behind and he flew off the bike, causing him to break his helmet in half," said Mulens.

Monzon's grieving family is asking for the public's help to find those responsible or for the driver to come forward.

"I hope that this person just comes clean and says, 'I was there. This is what happened' and just tell me so I can find my peace in my heart," said Mulens.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
