Coast Guard Called To Assist Man Bitten By Shark In Bahamas
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The U.S. Coast Guard has dispatched a helicopter to help a man who was bitten by a shark in the Bahamas.
The 26-year old Bahamian man was onboard a 76-foot fishing trawler when he was bitten. The boat was about 67 miles southwest of Andros Island.
The Coast Guard's 7th District Command Center in Miami was notified via a satellite phone call made by another man aboard the boat.
The Coast Guard immediately ordered one of their chopper crews stationed at their Atlantic Underwater Test and Evaluation Center on Andros Island to go to the fishing vessel's location and render any assistance they may need.
