Circus Comes To Town
MIAMI (CBS4) - It wasn't your average traffic jam in downtown Miami Monday night.
To herald the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus coming to town, a procession of elephants and horses was led from the train tracks at the corner of NE 8th Street and NW 1st Avenue down NE 8th to their temporary waterfront home behind the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The 140th Edition of the show – FUNundrum! – runs through January 17th at the arena.
Always a hit with the young and old alike, elephants have appeared in the famed 3 rings since 1796. Each week the animals eat 5 tons of carrots, apples and lettuce and 425 loaves of bread as between-meal treats.
Elephant hair is considered lucky & many performers braid it into bracelets.
