Charitable Things To Do With Kids: Everglades Holiday Park Helping Those In Need

Like many people, if you've been lucky enough to visit the Florida Everglades in person, you probably know firsthand what a thrill it is to explore the wetlands. Airboat rides and alligator shows at Everglades Holiday Park are non-stop action, from the moment you climb aboard a state-of-the-art-vessel to the moment you hold a baby alligator after an action-packed live show. But while many understand the entertainment value and adventuresome side of the park, few get to see the behind the scenes work the park does for the local community and South Florida at large. If you're looking for charitable things to do with kids, here's a glimpse into a few of the ways visiting Everglades Holiday Park can make a difference this year for our friends and neighbors.

Promoting Autism Awareness One Airboat Ride at a Time: The Dan Marino Partnership

Everglades Holiday Park is proud to announce a partnership with The Dan Marino Foundation to help promote autism awareness and raise funds for children and young adults living with autism and other developmental disabilities. Through May 31st, 2015, parents interested in unique things to do with kids can visit the park and add $1, $5, or $10 to their total purchase in support of The Dan Marino Foundation and Marino Campus, a post-secondary school serving the academic and vocational needs of young adults ages 18-28, with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Giving Back to the South Florida Community

For over two decades, Neighbors 4 Neighbors has been matching needy families in South Florida with caring organizations who have the resources to participate in worthy programs. Everglades Holiday Park is proud to be affiliated and is excited to sponsor programs like the "Adopt-a-Family 4 the Holidays" initiative. Throughout the month of October, the park is sponsoring "Operation Candy Corn", a Neighbors 4 Neighbors program, designed to bring Halloween costumes to deserving children in Broward County and surrounding areas. The costume drive is a huge success and we've accumulated quite a collection at our on-site drop off location at the park. Parents looking for charitable things to do with kids are welcome to come by with donations before enjoying a day of air-boating, gator shows and lunch.

Giving back is an important part of the Everglades Holiday Park philosophy and parents and caregivers are welcome to spend the day learning, laughing and feeling good about involving the kids in fun activities with a purpose. A day trip to Everglades Holiday Park is always fun, but can also be a creative way to instill compassion, empathy and a sense of community- one airboat ride at a time.
