Cancer Survivors Meet Orangutan With Similar Battle
WATSON ISLAND (CBSMiami) -- A group of cancer survivors met an orangutan on Sunday who went through a similar life-threatening battle.
The group with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), met Peanut, the orangutan who beat Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
Peanut is currently at Jungle Island and became the first orangutan in the world to be treated with aggressive chemotherapy like a human.
The group was treated to a presentation from the park's orangutan caregiver then they got to see Peanut paint a picture. They were also able to interact with the other orangutans including Peanut's fraternal twin, Pumpkin.
The event was part of "survivors weekend" at the park.
