Car Crashes Into Hallandale Beach Home, Driver Hospitalized

HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A rude awakening for a Hallandale Beach family after a vehicle slammed into their home Tuesday morning.

It happened just before 2 a.m. in the area of Southwest 2nd Avenue and 11th Street.

According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, the driver of the vehicle lost control, it rolled over and struck the home before bursting into flames.

The homeowner told CBS4 her grandson woke her up after hearing a loud noise. She said when she went to see what was going on, she found a car in her kitchen.

"When I attempted to walk down the hallway, I realized my fridge was blocking the hallway. And then I realized a car ran into the house. So he saw the car caught fire and he was screaming everybody get out of the house, get out of the house," she said.

Fortunately, everyone was able to make it outside of the house in time.

Nobody inside of the home was injured. According to the homeowner, the driver was taken to the hospital.

The house was deemed uninhabitable due to the damage.

Hallandale Beach police are investigating the cause of the crash.
