MIAMI (CBSMiami/NSF) -- A proposal filed Wednesday would exempt original art work from Florida's sales tax.
The proposal (HB 89), filed by Rep. David Richardson, D-Miami Beach, will be considered during the 2015 legislative session.
The bill would provide a tax exemption for sales of original works of art that are signed and sold by the artists. Also to be eligible, the works could not be numbered and would have to cost at least $1,000.
The bill would apply to works such as paintings, sculptures, etchings, pottery and ceramics but would not include such things as literature, music and photographs.
