MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami-Dade Police are searching for a car they say took off with those responsible for a shooting in northwest Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade Police said three people were shot Thursday afternoon near 67th Street and 24th Avenue and one man, in his 20s, died in the shooting.

Crews airlifted two people to a nearby hospital.

A woman collapsed in grief by the crime scene. A friend said she is the girlfriend of the man who was killed.

CBS4's Peter D'Oench spoke to a man named Jordan who said he knew the victim and his first name was Jeffrey.

"He was a good person. He was nice. He watched over me. He was like a brother to me. He would always be there for me," said Jordan.

D'Oench asked, "Do you know why anyone would want to do anything to him?"

"No," Jordan asked.

Meantime, investigators are trying to piece together what happened. They say the shooting happened next to an apartment complex.

As they looked for clues, Shonda Neal embraced a loved one. She said she knew Jeffrey as well.

"He was a pretty good kid, like my nephew," said Neal.

She says she nearly lost her son in another shooting and is upset.

"This just happens to be so senseless. This is heartbreaking. I have kids. My son was a victim as well of a shooting," said Neal.

Herman Williams was discouraged by the somber site. He's lived in this neighborhood since 1958.

"How do you feel about all this? I hate it. It's got to stop. There are too many young kids," said Williams.

Neal hopes witnesses will help police solve this case.

"If you know anything. I hope you come forward and bring closure to the family," said Neal.

Miami-Dade Police said they are looking for a newer model white Dodge Charger Or Altima with paper or temporary tags. Two men were seen inside that vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471- TIPS.
