Anchor Rick Folbaum's Children Douse Him For Ice Bucket Challenge

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Ice Bucket Challenge is making the rounds on social media and in the CBS4 newsroom.

Evening Anchor Rick Folbaum was challenged by his evening Co-Anchor Irika Sargent after she got doused for a good cause.

Rick wasn't that "into it" (so he said) and went right for the donation, but his children made sure he "paid up" by getting cold and wet. Then, he made sure his little ones got to feel the icy cold water too!

The ice bucket challenge has raised awareness for ALS which is Lou Gehrig's Disease.

The Florida chapter of the ALS Association has seen its donations more than double from the same time period last year thanks to the viral Ice Bucket Challenge campaign.

The challenge became a viral sensation in the last few weeks. Once "challenged," a person has 24 hours to pour a bucket of ice water over their head, or make a donation to an ALS charity.

In most cases, the challenge is accepted and a donation is made too.

Nationally, as of Monday, August 18, the ALS Association has received $15.6 million in donations compared to $1.8 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 18).

These donations have come from existing donors and 307,598 new donors to The Association.

Chief Meteorologist Craig Setzer, Anchor Eliott Rodriguez and Sports Anchor Jim Berry took the challenge last week.

To donate to The ALS Association Florida Chapter, go to www.ALSAFL.org.
