Local Musician's Suspected Killer In Custody On Unrelated Charge

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami Police say they have the man who allegedly shot and killed a person inside their home and he was already in police custody.

St. Augustine Beach Police arrested Raul Reinoso Martinez, 51, on an unrelated charge on July 4th.

Just six days later, police say, he will be extradited to Miami-Dade County on a warrant for second degree murder issued by Miami Police.

Martinez allegedly shot and killed Luis Salgar, 29, on June 23rd at his home located at  8551 N.E. 8th Court.

At around 3:00 p.m. that same day, Salgar's roommate arrived home and went to check on him and found his lifeless body on the floor.

Salgar's father, Manuel Salgar, said the alleged killer ate food and made coffee at his son's home before the shooting. Once he noticed someone arrived home, he hid in a closet with Salgar's roommate's gun.

Manuel Salgar said he is only asking for one thing.

"The only thing that I ask is for justice and I'm hoping this guy doesn't repeat the same felony he just committed and hurt another family like what happened to us," said Salgar.

Manuel Salgar said his son's alleged killer will never leave his mind.

"I don't think I can ever forget this guy. To do something like this. You cannot forget a person who committed a crime like this and actually at the end of the story he didn't hardly take anything from the house. You know killing somebody for a couple of dollars or watch or old laptop, it doesn't pay," said Salgar. " I cannot forgive him but I hope he gets what he deserves."
