MIAMI (CBSMiami) – CBS4 Sports anchor Kim Bokamper has announced that he is retiring at the end of January 2015.
Over the past 14 years at CBS4, Bokamper has covered every facet of South Florida sports in one of the most exciting sports markets in the nation.
"All of us will miss working with Bo and the dedication and professionalism he brought to CBS4," station Vice President/General Manager Adam Levy said of Bokamper's announcement. "We wish him all the best."
After long and successful careers in both the NFL and television broadcasting, Bokamper says he's now looking forward to the next chapter of his life.
"I've come to re-evaluate what I want to do at this point in my life," Bokamper said. "In particular, I want to spend more time with my daughters. My oldest, Kourtney, is getting married in October and I want to be available to help with the wedding plans as my help is needed. I'm also looking forward to taking some time to travel and see the world."
In addition, Bokamper says he plans to continue to support a number of charitable organizations, including the American Cancer Association, the Cystic Fibrosis Association, the United Way and Special Olympics.
Bokamper admitted he will be sad to say goodbye to a job that he has always enjoyed. "I will miss the people that I've worked with in the sports community," he said. "I'll also miss the excitement of covering the sports scene here in South Florida, which has been such a big part of my life for as long as I can remember."
Bokamper's involvement with the sports community began in a big way when he was a player with the world champion Miami Dolphins. He was drafted as a first-round draft pick in 1976 and played all nine of his NFL seasons with the team. As a member of the team's Killer Bs" defense, he played in two Pro Bowls ('80 and '81) and as a starting defensive end for Super Bowl XVII ('82). In addition, he received an Outstanding Linebacker Award in 1981.
He currently serves as president of both the Miami Chapter of the NFL Alumni Association and the Miami Dolphins Alumni association.
