2nd Teen Dies In Hialeah 'Out Of Control' Car Crash

HIALEAH (CBS4) – Another teenager has passed away after her and three others were struck by an out of control car while walking home in Hialeah.

Hialeah Fire spokesperson Eddie Rodriguez said 15-year-old Jennifer Lopez passed away at Jackson Memorial Hospital as a result of her injuries.

The incident that occurred on Thursday, January 20 killed one teen and critically injured two others, including Lopez. The car struck the teens before finally coming to a final stop in a Hialeah home.

The teenagers were on the sidewalk in front of the home on West 1st Avenue and West 9th Street just after 3 p.m. Police say the victims attend nearby Miami Springs Senior High School.

Rodriguez said the driver, Jose Milo, 42, struck two males and two females. Two of the victim's injuries were so severe they were airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. One of the teens later died.

The two other victims were taken by ground transport to the hospital. Milo and his passenger, Sofia Milo, 65, were also taken to the hospital.

Police say a medical problem caused the driver to lose control. It is unknown what the medical condition is and if the driver ever lost consciousness.

Another student that was walking with the group told CBS4 News that he saw the driver coming their way, but couldn't alert his friends fast enough to avoid being hit.

Milo remains hospitalized.  Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
