1 Dead, 1 Injured In West Dade Salon Shooting

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man stormed inside of a West Dade beauty salon and opened fired on a hairstylist before turning the gun on himself on Saturday.

According to Miami-Dade police, the shooter – in his 30s – entered Salonz Beauty Suites at 8315 W. Flagler Street at around 4:40 p.m. and shot his girlfriend in the lobby area, in front of customers and other employees.

The victim – a stylist in her 50s – was rushed to Kendall Regional in critical condition. It is not known where the victim was shot or how many times she was shot.

Authorities said the shooter turned the gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the victim and the shooter were romantically involved, but had no prior history of domestic violence.

Investigators said the man may have vandalized the victim's car before rampaging into the salon.

At this time, police have not released the identities of the shooter or the victim but CBS4 spoke to a woman who said she was the victim's client.

She said the victim has worked at the Salon for about eight years and would work long hours, seven days a week.
