A woman, wanted for a hit-and-run, was arrested in Compton after leading authorities on a pursuit that originated in Escondido.
The teens, driving a stolen vehicle, were said to be 14 and 15-years-old and driving under the influence. They were both said to be in serious condition following the collision.
Authorities began pursuing the suspect, who was wanted on suspicion of domestic violence, a little before 9 p.m., but did not take them into custody until 2:30 a.m. after an hours-long standoff involving a SWAT team and a K9 team.
Cornered behind a parked vehicle, the pursuit continues to gas the vehicle, sending smoke and sparks in the air.
The driver led police in pursuit for over an hour before an hours-long standoff lasted until a little before 3 a.m.
The mother and son were reunited after police were able to successfully slow the stolen vehicle down using spike strips. The suspect was arrested and the child was safely recovered with no further incident.
The Sheriff's Department arrested the suspect and a passenger shortly after.
