At the end of the pursuit, deputies opened fire on the pickup truck, leaving several holes in the driver's side door. The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Bernie Rascon.
Police began chasing the stolen car with Massachusetts license plates in Van Nuys. The black Honda Civic was stolen at about 1 a.m. on Olympic, where a food delivery driver had left it running, according to the LAPD.
Several people were hurt in the crash, some of them police officers, some them the suspects. One LAPD vehicle was left with major rear end damage.
