Woman Found Dead In Lakewood Apartment

LAKEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A 57-year-old woman was found dead Tuesday night in a Lakewood apartment.

Deputies were sent to the 4100 block of Maybank Avenue at 6:37 p.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Officials were "met by a relative who found the victim inside the residence unresponsive," according to the LASD.

The victim was later identified as Margaret Mae Rion.

Her death was classified as a homicide based on the trauma to her upper torso, officials added.

The investigation is ongoing.
