Woman Allegedly Murdered By Husband In South LA Officially Identified By Coroner
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Coroner's Office officially identified a woman who was allegedly killed by her husband, along with their two-month-old son, in South Los Angeles.
Jacqueline Elele Montoya Rieux, 25, was identified as the adult victim on Sunday, according to investigator Dana Bee.
CBS2 and KCAL9 named the woman and the couple's son, Joshua, in a report Friday.
The suspect in the killings, Algernon Rieux, was taken into custody at 2 a.m. on Friday in San Pedro, according to Los Angeles police Sgt. Kelly Castillo.
Rieux, 26, was booked on suspicion of murder and was held on $1 million bail.
Montoya and their two-month-old son were found dead in the 11100 block of South Normandie Avenue in the Westmont area at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday. The cause of their death was not disclosed.
Rieux was described as bipolar and possibly suicidal, as well as being under the influence of methamphetamine, sheriff's detectives said.
"During the early morning hours, Los Angele Police Department officers developed information, based on the information provided in the wanted flyer, as to the whereabouts of... Rieux," sheriff's Deputy Sara Rodriguez said. "He was located and detained in the San Pedro area."
