Woman Goes To Jail For Public Assistance Fraud
LOS ANGELES (CBS) - A woman who had been accused of falsely receiving public assistance was convicted today.
Mishianand Mack, 30 -- who once lived in Los Angeles -- continued receiving public assistance aid by falsely claiming that she lived in the city, while she was living in San Bernardino County. Mack was convicted Feb. 25 of one count each of obtaining aid through misrepresentation and grand theft of child care funds, along with three counts of perjury.
The Los Angeles Superior Court has sentenced Mack to serve six months in county jail and five years on probation. According to the District Attorney's Office, she will also perform 300 hours of community service.
The amount of restitution Mack she will have to pay is scheduled to be determined March 23, when she is expected to surrender to begin serving her jail term.
