LONG BEACH (CBS) — A 45-year-old woman will appear in court Monday to face arson charges, according to authorities.

Ardath Marie Scott was arrested just after midnight on July 6th, say officials.

Steve Yamamoto of the Long Beach Fired Department says Scott was observed by police officers on routine patrol. He said they caught her in the act of "lighting and throwing  a destructive device commonly known as a Molotov cocktail at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Henderson Avenue."

Yamamoto said Scott had five Molotov cocktails in her bag.

She is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Century Regional Detention Facility.
