West Hollywood Warns Of Major Traffic Delays Monday During Presidential Visit
WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — President Barack Obama will visit Los Angeles Monday during a West Coast presidential campaign swing that could cause major traffic delays in mid-city.
The visit will be apart of a three-day, three-state fundraising trip which includes Washington and Colorado.
The president will arrive in Los Angeles Monday afternoon for a 5 p.m. fundraising event at the House of Blues, 8430 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Tickets are priced from $250 for general admission to $10,000 for a picture with Obama.
In a statement released by the city of West Hollywood, officials warn of "street closures and major traffic delays throughout the afternoon and evening in the City of West Hollywood and surrounding areas."
Possible street closures include Sunset Boulevard, North Olive Street, Fountain Avenue and La Cienega Boulevard.
Officials are also warning residents and businesses to plan ahead to avoid inconveniences.
Hollywood city services will also be impacted:
- City Hall will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.
- Plummer park will close at noon.
- Helen Albert Farmer's Market will close at 1 p.m.
- West Hollywood Park-Park Office will be closed Monday, no scheduled events or activities will be offered.
The city has issued an alert on their website with up-to-date information about street closures and major traffic delays.
Another event will be held later in the evening at Fig & Olive, 8490 Melrose Place. Admission to the dinner is $18,000 per person. Officials say to anticipate closures on Melrose and La Cienega Boulevard.
Both Los Angeles area events are aimed at entertainment industry players with deep pockets.
For security reasons, the Secret Service has not released the president's travel arrangements while visiting the Southland.
