Vehicle Strikes Whittier Police Officer Directing Traffic
WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — A Whittier police officer was struck by a vehicle Friday while he was standing in the street directing traffic, California Highway Patrol reported.
It happened shortly before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Whittier and Colima boulevards.
The driver remained at the scene.
The veteran police officer was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries to an arm. He was expected to make a full recovery.
The officer had been standing in the street to direct traffic away from a fatal car crash on Colima, where there were several roadblocks.
Earlier in the evening, a 60-year-old man died after slamming his car into a tree.
