Toluca Lake Girl Chosen To Participate In United Nations Celebration

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Cady Stark, a 15 year old from Toluca Lake, visited the KCAL 9 studios Thursday. Stark was specially selected to participate in the UN International Year of Youth Culmination Celebration taking place in NYC on August 11.

This monumental event will join together young women who have played leadership roles in their communities and who are committed to working toward positive social change.

Cady Stark received one of the prestigious "delegate" spots due to the organization she helped form, making her a positive role model for girls everywhere. In December 2002, Stark, who was just 7-years-old at the time, along with her older sister Callie, were living on Kling Street in Toluca Lake, CA and had the great idea of holding a holiday fundraiser to help children who were less fortunate. With the help of a few other neighbors, they formed the "Kling Street Kids." What began as a hot chocolate and donut stand outside their home raising $500 nine years ago, has turned into an annual kids holiday fund-raiser on the two days before Christmas every year. From 2002 through 2010, over $76,000 has been raised and donated primarily to the Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
