SWAT Standoff Prompts Evacuations In Signal Hill

SIGNAL HILL (CBS) — A man with a fake firearm surrendered early Tuesday after standoff in Signal Hill, authorities said.

Police and a SWAT team were deployed to the 1000 block of East 32nd Street after a domestic disturbance was reported just after 1 a.m., Signal Hill police Lt. Michael Reid said.

A woman had told police her boyfriend was inside the apartment with an AK-47, which prompted the evacuations of eight neighboring apartments at 4 a.m.

No injuries were reported, Reid said.
