LANCASTER (AP) — Authorities say a suspect in a 29-year-old murder case in Lancaster will be arraigned this week.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said Sunday that 55-year-old Christopher David Winter was arrested Nov. 6 while on a truck route in Tipp City, Ohio.
He was transported to Los Angeles last week and is being held without bail at men's central jail.
Winter, a long-haul trucker, is suspected in the 1981 killing of 50-year-old Joseph Azevedo, who was found shot to death in his Lancaster mobile home.
The case ran cold but was reopened in 2006, when advances in fingerprint and DNA analysis allowed investigators to follow old leads.
Winter will be arraigned Monday on charges including one count of residential burglary and one count of murder.
If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
