Suspect Arrested After Breaking Through Walls Of 5 Rooms Of Azusa Motel
AZUSA (CBS) — Breaking through the walls of five motel rooms was not enough to get past Azusa police.
Fernando Sanchez, 34, of Covina was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of threatening a woman with a gun in violation of a court order. Azusa police were sent to the Arrow Inn, 469 E. Arrow Highway, on a report that he had threatened the woman with a handgun, Sgt. John Madaloni said.
Officers spoke with Sanchez by phone, but he refused to surrender.
At some point, Sanchez broke a hole in the wall and got into an empty room next door, Madaloni said. Sanchez continued to elude arrest by breaking through the walls of four more rooms.
Sanchez surrendered about 90 minutes after breaking through the wall of the fifth room, Madaloni said, but the gun he threatened the woman with was not found.
