Squad Car Responding To Rescue Call Collides With Vehicle
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities Sunday said a sheriff's department squad car responding to a medical emergency rescue call collided with another vehicle in the Athens area of unincorporated Los Angeles County.
The accident at El Segundo Boulevard and Western Avenue occurred about 7:30 a.m., Lt. Robert Craton of the sheriff's Parks and Services Bureau said.
The deputy was using lights and siren on Western Avenue to respond to a medical emergency rescue call at Jesse Owens Park when his patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle, Craton said.
No one was injured in the crash and no arrests or citations were handed out.
Craton said the crash investigation was being handled by the California Highway Patrol.
