Sheriff: 2-Year-Old Boy Killed By Car While Walking In Palmdale

PALMDALE (AP) — Sheriff's officials say a 2-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car while walking with his grandfather in Palmdale.

Detective Jeff Perkins says both the boy and the 60-year-old man were hit by the vehicle around 6 p.m. Friday.

The boy was rushed by air to a hospital but he couldn't be saved. The man's injuries weren't life-threatening.

Perkins says the driver may have been temporarily blinded by the sun when he rounded a corner and struck both of them.

The driver was not cited pending the outcome of an investigation.

The names of everyone involved were not released.
