SAN FERNANDO (CBSLA.com) — A convicted sex offender was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in state prison after being caught taking photos of the legs and backsides of girls as young as 6.

Yale Yurman, 71, pleaded no contest July 31 to one count of annoying a child under the age of 18, while having a prior sex crime conviction, according to Deputy District Attorney Emily Cole.

According to the prosecutor, Yurman was caught following girls as young as 6 at a store and taking pictures of them in June 2013.

Yurman, a former attorney, was previously convicted in 1987 of seven counts of committing a forcible lewd act on a child under 14 and five counts of forcible oral copulation, in a case in which he posed as a doctor checking water for bacteria to get into the victims' homes. According to the District Attorney's Office, Yurman served 15 years of a 30-year prison sentence in that case.
